(ANSA) – LIVORNO, 23 JUL – During a judicial police operation they surprised him in a room in possession of a Russian-made pistol, Tokarev model T33, 25 mm caliber (so-called Makarov caliber) with seven rounds inserted in the magazine and ready to use. For this reason the carabinieri of the investigative unit arrested a man of Albanian nationality in Livorno, active as a building contractor. Another Albanian citizen, who was in the company of him, was also reported, found in possession of an improper weapon: a retractable steel truncheon.
Also checked a third man who was with them.
The operation ended inside a commercial establishment in Stagno, on the outskirts of Livorno, where the military broke in, immobilizing the three, who were subjected to a search. Two crews from the mobile radio arrived on the spot. The investigations into the affair, the military explain, are oriented towards the local underworld and do not exclude any leads for now. Investigators are examining all the elements that emerged in order to be able to reconstruct the motive that would have induced an established building contractor who has lived in Italy for many years to carry a loaded firearm with him while having a meal with two trusted collaborators. The gunman was taken to the Livorno prison. According to the carabinieri, it cannot be excluded that the presence of the weapon, which is moreover ready for use, can be traced back to the presence on the territory of organized criminal contexts. The Tokarev TT-33 pistol is a Soviet-made single-action weapon invented in 1930. Since 1933 it has been used as a sidearm of the Red Army. The abbreviation “Tt” means Tula-Tokarev, where Tula is the Russian city where the weapon manufacturing factory is located and Tokarev is the name of the designer Fyodor Tòkarev. (HANDLE).
