(ANSA) – MANTOVA, 24 JUL – He caused a road accident with his scooter, but without serious consequences. Instead of stopping and making an amicable finding of the damage caused to the motorist involved, he preferred to escape. His escape, however, tragically ended about ten kilometers later.
It happened last night in Porto Mantua where a 44-year-old Romanian citizen, a resident of Soave di Porto Mantua for years, lost control of the scooter and crashed into the side ditch, dying instantly. Shortly after 21 the man had hit the side of a car with his vehicle. The woman driving had motioned him to stop, but he gave the gas to his scooter and walked away. The woman phoned the carabinieri but in the meantime she set out in pursuit of the fugitive. The man, after about ten kilometers on the former state road to Verona, deviated to a side road in the area of Castiglione Mantovano, in the municipality of Rovebella, but due to the high speed after a few hundred meters he lost control of the bike and ended up in the lateral moat.
The assistance of the motorist and the 118 health workers was useless.
