Italians arrested in the Bahamas, released from prison despite black lists

(ANSA) – NAPLES, JUL 23 – Epilogue with a happy ending for the three Italian traders without a license, all Neapolitans, arrested by the Bahamas Police for having sold goods without having the necessary authorizations and, for this reason, ended up in cells, waiting of the trial: the bail bonds of 7 thousand euros each set by the judge for release, reached their destination thanks to a triangulation between Naples-London-Caribbean islands classified as a tax haven and for this reason included in a black list of countries drawn up by Revenue Agency.

Now they are free: for them only a bad adventure, therefore, which could have been even worse. With a passport under their arm they are looking for a flight to reach Italy. Some will return with places made available by the Italian authorities, others are providing autonomously.

From now on, however, the Bahamas will be off-limits for them: if they were to set foot again, a trial with a high risk of conviction would await them.

The extremely articulated bail payment was successful thanks to the insights of the lawyer of the three Neapolitans, the lawyer Amedeo Di Pietro, and the honorary consul general Alberto Suighi, who, with the collaboration of a local lawyer and after several transfers failed, they managed to get the money into the coffers of the local judicial authority which, after having collected the 21 thousand euros, ordered the three releases.
