Therefore, according to folk traditions, this period was considered especially happy for weddings and the creation of a new family.

Since ancient times, girls have performed rituals, bewitched and wondered at the Pokrov, in order to find out when they will meet the groom, whether they will soon get married, what the future will be, how many children there will be. In order to get a good groom, they went to the church for the Intercession, prayed and lit candles in front of the icon of the Mother of God.

The girl got up early in the morning without speaking to anyone, covered her head with a handkerchief and, going up to the window, uttered the words three times: “Pokrov-Mother, cover the earth with snow, and young me – with a handkerchief“.
