(ANSA) – CAGLIARI, 27 JUL – Three buildings evacuated as a precaution but fortunately no damage to companies or homes. The fire that broke out this afternoon between Quartu Sant’Elena and Quartucciu (Metropolitan City of Cagliari) in a reed bed between via Don Minzoni and viale Marconi has not yet been completely extinguished.
The flames fueled by the high temperatures and the mistral wind quickly spread, dangerously approaching the buildings. Three fire brigade teams arrived on the spot, the regional forestry corps and civil protection volunteers who set to work to tame the fire. The carabinieri of the Compagnia di Quartu are also at work, with the commander Michele Cerri, who have blocked some roads to allow the fire extinguishing operations. The situation currently appears to be under control.
