(ANSA) – ANCONA, 27 JUL – A wave of bad weather (announced by the regional civil protection) with rain, wind and hail hit the Marches in the early afternoon of today. A violent hail storm struck Ascoli Piceno: hailstones as large as walnuts fell with great violence causing damage to parked cars, to the glass roofs of some houses and terraces and also with the collapse of some parts of the scaffolding of construction sites. Interventions by the fire brigade are underway and the damage count is expected to be considerable. There is fear for crops. In Ancona about thirty people got stuck on the Mezzavalle beach in Portonovo (reachable by a very steep path) divers and the Nautical Nucleus of the Fire Brigade had to intervene to rescue the swimmers who could not go up the path that leads to the Conero provincial road made slippery by the rain. These are boys, women and men who have been picked up from the beach with the firefighters’ rafts in 3 trips and transported to the pier of the Portonovo beach. (HANDLE).
