Mafia: entrepreneur near Stidda, Gdf confiscates 23 million assets

(ANSA) – CATANIA, 28 JUL – Assets worth over 23 million euros have been confiscated by the Guardia di Finanza of Catania from Giombattista Puccio, an entrepreneur from Vittoria (Ragusa) in the fruit and vegetable packaging sector.

The provision was issued by the Etna Court, at the request of the local DDA, and also provides, for humans, special surveillance for three years, with the obligation to stay in the Municipality of residence. According to the prosecution, Puccio, convicted of robbery, personal injury and attempted aggravated and continued extortion, is “historically close to the Stidda mafia association” and “thanks to his support he managed to have a dominant position in the packaging market for fruit and vegetable products “. The Public Prosecutor of Catania believes that “the companies and individual enterprises headed by Puccio were the result of the illicit conduct of the entrepreneur, who managed them with the mafia method, thus increasing their ability to penetrate and influence the market”. The confiscation order, based on investigations by the Gico of the Pef Nucleus of the Guardia di Finanza of Catania, concerns eight companies and individual enterprises, a commercial building, two cars and a motor vehicle and financial relationships in the name or in any case attributable to Puccio.
