Naples, the city regains possession of the San Vincenzo pier

Culture, Cavallaro:

(ANSA) – NAPLES, 28 JUL – For the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, it represents one of the “identifying places” of the city of Naples and from the first Saturday of August it will be usable by Neapolitans, even if awaiting the reorganization work for children groups. It is the San Vincenzo pier from which you can admire the entire city of Naples from the sea. The pier is accessed from the naval base of the Marina del Molosiglio which will have a dual use.

A huge investment of about six million euros is foreseen for its accommodation. The green light for the future enhancement plan of the pier arrived today thanks to a memorandum of understanding that was signed by the Minister of Defense, Lorenzo Guerini, by the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, by the top management of the Navy, by the agency of the State Property and by the port authority of the Central Tyrrhenian Sea. A protocol that describes, point by point, all the phases of an ambitious and complex intervention program at the same time.

“We will make important investments together with the port authority – said Mayor Manfredi – because the pier must become one of the lungs of the city, of a city that takes back the sea”.

With the investment of six million, the Municipality aims to rearrange the access to the pier, the heliport and a first part of the refurbishment works. Then the goal is to give a new life to the Bourbon shops and to set up a pier for the mooring of large yachts, with the creation of entertainment places for citizens.

Naples aims to be like all other “seaside cities that have spaces for entertainment on the sea”.

“We have been discussing the San Vincenzo pier for decades – added Manfredi – in a few months we have made a great effort. And for this I thank the Minister of Defense and the Navy who have done a great job”. (HANDLE).
