(ANSA) – SASSARI, JUL 28 – The body of Graziano Piana, the inmate from Sassari killed by his cellmate in the Bancali prison on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, was transferred this morning from the Santissima Annunziata hospital to the Institute of forensic medicine, where an autopsy will be performed at the request of the deputy public prosecutor, Angelo Beccu.

During the day the prosecutor will entrust the task and the exam could be held already in the afternoon. For the moment, there is no official provision against the attacker from Piana, Giuseppe Pisano, a 27-year-old resident of Austis. The young man remains locked in a solitary confinement cell awaiting the decision of the judicial authority.

According to an initial reconstruction made by the agents of the penitentiary police, Pisano, who arrived in the Bancali prison shortly before midnight on Tuesday, would have hit Piana in the head with a stool immediately after entering his cell. It is not clear whether there was a quarrel between the two before. Piana, who appeared immediately in serious condition, was transported from 118 to the emergency room of the Santissima Annunziata and then underwent head surgery. In the early afternoon yesterday he died. The injuries suffered to the head were too serious. (HANDLE).
