(ANSA) – TARANTO, JUL 28 – Boasting friendships in a well-known company, he promised a colleague to hire his son upon payment of sums of money necessary to “fix” the documentation. “So, in about 5 years, it would be managed to get 200 thousand euros from the parents of the man looking for a job. For this reason a 40-year-old from Massafra (Taranto) was arrested by the police on charges of aggravated fraud in competition, extortion, theft and substitution of person. For the same crimes the partner was reported.

The story began in 2017 when the employee of a Cooperative operating in the maintenance and care of greenery in the city of Massafra, began a friendship with another employee of the same cooperative, newly hired, trusting in particular his concern for the son who, despite numerous attempts, had not yet managed to find a stable job. The alleged scammer trusts that he knows the “right person” who could have solved the problem for him. “The friend” in question is an elusive engineer who works at a well-known Massafrese company who could have hired his colleague’s son in the factory, after paying sums of money. After the repeated delivery of the money, the worker pretends to speak to “the engineer”: at that point the colleague who promised the hiring confides that he has already been in prison for possession of weapons, explosives and drugs and reports that having met leading exponents of Taranto’s organized crime and boasting numerous friendships with offenders in the area. After years of threats and harassment, the married couple decided to report everything to the police. (HANDLE).
