(ANSA) – BOLZANO, 28 JUL – The 50-year-old German tourist who disappeared yesterday during an excursion in Val Pusteria was found dead. The man, who was staying with his wife at the San Lorenzo di Sebato campsite, had left with the mountain bike towards the locality of Vila di Sopra. The alarm went off at 10 pm, when the 50-year-old did not return. Last night the bicycle was found near the Haidacher hut, from where the man had continued on foot towards the summit of the Croda Nera (3,105 m).

Despite the massive intervention of rescuers, several dog units and the intervention of the Aiut Alpin Dolomites helicopter with night vision goggles, the man was not found.

This morning around 6.30 the body was instead located and recovered by the Pelikan 2 helicopter rescue at the foot of a wall.

The tourist, in all likelihood, during the climb slipped and fell for 200 meters, dying instantly. The carabinieri and the mountain rescue of the Guardia di Finanza also intervened on the spot. (HANDLE).
