Migrants: two more landings in Lampedusa, 2 thousand in hotspots

(ANSA) – LAMPEDUSA, JUL 31 – 121 migrants, on two boats, rescued 5 miles from the port of Lampedusa by the Pv7 patrol boat of the Guardia di Finanza. After a first medical triage in Favarolo pier, they too were taken to the hotspot where there are just under 2 thousand guests compared to 350 places available. The structure remains on its knees despite the continuous transfers: last night on the Pietro Novelli ferry, which then headed for Mazara del Vallo, 350 migrants were boarded.

Yesterday, on the island, there were 28 landings with over a thousand people.

The first 10-meter boat, rescued tonight, was adrift. On board, 54 fleeing from Bangladesh, Sudan and Morocco. On the second, there were 67 Syrians, Palestinians and Egyptians, including five women and two minors. (HANDLE).
