Migrants: in Salerno the Ocean Viking, landed in 387

Street vendor killed, Ferlazzo remains in his cell:

(ANSA) – SALERNO, 01 AUG – The “Ocean Viking”, the NGO ship that has rescued 387 migrants in the Mediterranean in recent days, has arrived in the port of Salerno. Of these 149 are minors, many of them unaccompanied; 209 men and 29 women. On board there were also 9 children under the age of 5 and a little one almost one year old. The disembarkation operations began around 10 am: the first to get off the ship were the smallest ones who had priority. On the quay of the pier on January 3 there were also the prefect of Salerno, Francesco Russo and the commissioner Giancarlo Conticchio, as well as representatives of the municipal administration and civil protection volunteers. Once the disembarkation operations and the related medical checks have been completed, the migrants will be sorted into the reception facilities identified in the past few hours. Salerno presents a well-established solidarity machine, especially in consideration of the dozens of landings hosted in recent years.

The landing of migrants was yesterday the subject of political attacks by the Brothers of Italy and the Lega, which speak of a “wicked decision”. (HANDLE).
