(ANSA) – FLORENCE, 02 AUG – Two 18-year-old Florentine 18-year-olds were quickly identified and fined by the municipal police on the stone behind the Tree of Peace in via dei Georgofili in Florence. The same then cleaned up the inscription left behind the bronze olive tree that recalls the mafia massacre of the Georgofili in 1993 when a car bomb was detonated at that point which caused five victims, many injuries and considerable damage to the heritage, even to that cultural heritage of the nearby Uffizi. The phrase is a verse from Blanco’s song ‘Notti in bianco’.
The episode happened last night around 11 pm when the two girls were identified by the agents of the Guard Corps thanks to the cameras and were stopped by a patrol in the area immediately alerted to stop them. In addition to the 160 euro fine, they themselves have materially cleaned up the writing, a verse of a song. The operation lasted about an hour and a half. “Soiling common goods is always a damage to the community – comments the deputy mayor Alessia Bettini -, when it comes to monuments, which in this case recall painful pages of our recent history, there is also damage to the artistic and cultural heritage but also values of our city.These are unacceptable gestures and there is a real need for more respect and awareness on the part of everyone.
