(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 05 AUGUST – A person was overwhelmed and killed in the late evening yesterday by a regional train for reasons not yet established. It happened at 10.25 pm on the Venice-Trieste line practically arriving at the Monfalcone station on the Venice side. The train, the Regional 3861 Venice-Trieste, had 70 passengers on board who continued their journey by taxi, given the unavailability of buses that could replace the railway connection.
This, in fact, was suspended for a few hours and was restored only during the night. 118 health workers and Polfer agents worked on the spot. It has not yet been possible to obtain information regarding the personal details of the person invested and the causes of the accident. Some convoys (one Freccia, one intercity and 3 Regional) have limited the run and have been replaced. There were delays of up to 180 minutes for three Regionals and three freight trains. (HANDLE).
