(ANSA) – DOGNA, 08 AUGUST – A car fell into a cliff in the Pian dei Spadovai area, in Alta Val Dogna (Udine), plunging about a hundred meters. The alarm was raised this morning but the accident could have happened in the previous hours. The driver, a 72-year-old man, died.
The men from the Cave del Predil and Moggio Udinese stations of the Alpine and Speleological Rescue Fvg arrived on the spot together with the Guardia di Finanza, Carabinieri and Fire Brigade.
The victim had attended a rally at high altitude, then he was lost track. The alarm about his disappearance was raised around 10 pm yesterday by family members. This morning, at dawn, a Carabinieri patrol from the Chiusaforte station noticed the vehicle in the cliff. The body was inside the cockpit. The presence of passengers was excluded. The investigations were entrusted to the Guardia di Finanza intervened with its Alpine Rescue department.
The recovery of the body by helicopter is underway. (HANDLE).
