(ANSA) – ASTI, AUGUST 10 – The Asti financial police confiscated assets for a value of 670 thousand euros from Pierpaolo Gherlone, 58, a well-known local accountant, convicted of improper receipt of Covid non-repayable contributions and fraudulent bankruptcy. These are the money in bank accounts, three luxury cars, five lands located in the Asti area and company shares.

The investigations had started in 2021 and had ascertained that the accused, in the two-year period 2019-2020, had acquired the position of director of various economic entities for illicit purposes.

In particular, in the office of legal representative of two companies in the province of Asti, in order to unduly obtain contributions for Covid 19, for a total of about 18,000 euros, he had misled the Revenue Agency by communicating, for the years tax 2019 and 2020, a fictitious turnover, calculated on the basis of non-existent invoices. In the position of liquidator of two Asti companies declared bankrupt in 2020 by the Court of Asti, the suspect had also dissipated sums equal to almost 650,000 euros through cash withdrawals from company current accounts.

The Asti Court, following a plea bargain, sentenced the Asti to a prison sentence of 3 years and 6 months and ordered the criminal confiscation of the money and assets already subject to preventive seizure. (HANDLE).
