Gb: drought emergency in England, water restrictions

A drought emergency is about to be launched by the British authorities for large parts of England due to the prolonged lack of rainfall and the latest heat waves, including the one currently underway with maximum temperatures expected between 35 and 37 degrees.
For the UK media, the official communication of the National Drought Group is expected “shortly” but already as anticipated it is expected that the state of emergency will affect the capital London, as well as several counties including Kent, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire, Devon and Cornwall.
Among the measures that the announcement involves are forms of water rationing, with fewer barriers for water companies that want to ban customers from watering the garden or washing the car, but also stricter restrictions, extending the bans cleaning buildings, vehicles and windows, as well as the ability to draw more water than usual from rivers with government authorization.
Meanwhile, the Met Office has raised the fire alert for southern England in the face of environmental conditions that have been among the most difficult in decades.
