These are the words that characterized the last farewell to Gianni Reinetti, a symbol of the fight for LGBT rights since, in 2016, after 52 years together, he married his partner, Franco Perrello, the first homosexual couple united civilly. It was the church of Santa Rita, the neighborhood where he shared his life with Franco, that welcomed Gianni’s funeral, celebrated by Don Benito Rugolino who underlined how “this man left an imprint with his social commitment and civil and this is beautiful “. To remember him as a person who “believed a lot in love, human and divine”, his godson, Marco Zorzan. “He was a very faithful man – he added – and he always felt like a free and courageous man, he always believed in his ideas, trying to carry them forward with great determination”.

Moved by the former mayor Chiara Appendino, who in 2016 had celebrated the civil union of Franco and Gianni. “How many love stories have such strength to get past the age of 50?
