(ANSA) – RIPARBELLA (PISA), AUGUST 13 – A 54-year-old German tourist died last night after having tumbled from a wall a few meters high and then fell into a kind of escarpment below. He happened in a rural area of Riparbella, in the Lower Val di Cecina, in the province of Pisa.
The man died immediately and the most accredited hypothesis by the carabinieri of the company of Volterra (Pisa) is that it was an accident after a birthday party in a private house in which the victim participated together with a group of compatriots.
Around 2.30, according to a reconstruction, the tourist and other friends went out for a walk and at a time when he was alone and a little further away from the others, the 54-year-old fell perhaps after stumbling or in any case without noticing the difference in altitude, probably due to the darkness. Friends heard a thud and immediately raised the alarm but when the 118 staff arrived on the scene the man was already dead. According to testimonies collected by the carabinieri, during the celebrations the climate was serene and there were no quarrels.
However, the magistrate on duty ordered the transfer of the body to the Cecina cemetery pending the autopsy.
