It was the night of July 9th and a piece of Rome, a place dear to the memory of many, went up in smoke. In a few minutes “The professor’s stall”, historic used book counter in Piazzale Flaminio has been devoured by flames. It was immediately understood that this action could not be accidental, a criminal hand had destroyed hundreds of volumes with those flames.
And today a little over a month has come to arrest the person responsible for that fire and many others, a serial arsonist.

Taken in Rome serial arsonist, his stake at the professor’s stall

The 41-year-old man, the police of the capotale ascertained, was targeting bars, restaurants, bins especially in the center of Rome. Precisely on the night of the stake of that piece of Roman culture, other fires had occurred between Ponte Milvio and Piazzale Flaminio, damaging waste bins, external furnishings of commercial establishments (“Lo Sgobbone”, “Il Vignola” restaurants and “Mio Caffè” bars “) and finally to the detriment of the historic stall. For this reason, the carabinieri set up a task force with the aim of putting together the elements collected in the various fires and thus having a more unitary picture of the various fires that had occurred. By analyzing the footage of the surveillance systems, observation services and territorial controls, the military identified a homeless person, with specific precedents. The investigations also found that the man was the author of a fire that started on June 27 in several AMA bins. The judge for the preliminary investigations validated the arrest, asked the deputy prosecutor Giovanni Conzo, and applied the precautionary measure in prison considering the danger of the man who is now in the Civitavecchia prison. Also in the capital yesterday another arsonist who had contributed to the summer of fire and damage in Rome was arrested, he is accused of being responsible for the fire in via della Magliana on 8 August, which involved the municipal kennel and the railway station .

And the results can be seen”, writes the president of the region.
“Thanks to the monitoring of the Region – writes Occhiuto in the post – we have saved, for the umpteenth time, the Calabrian nature from a fire. Already reported to the competent authorities. In Calabria, firefighting measures are serious! And the results are visible.
