The district of Leocorno with the jockey Giovanni Atzeni, called Tittia, on the horse Violenta da Clodia, won the Palio di Siena tonight dedicated to the Madonna dell’Assunta. The Leocorno led the Career in the lead from the start to the Mossa for all three laps of Piazza del Campo.

For the jockey Giovanni Atzeni it is the ninth Palio di Siena won, the fourth in a row. He had won the 2019 Palios before the suspension for Covid and that of last July 2, always for different districts.

For Violent by Clodia, a nine-year-old female bay horse, is the first Palio won at the fourth participation. During the race jockeys from four districts fell, their horses all arrived ‘shaken’. The race in Piazza del Campo was held today due to a postponement due to bad weather that on August 16 – a traditional date – hit the city and the tuff track set up in the square.
