(ANSA) – AOSTA, AUGUST 18 – Although the night showers were lower than expected, the drop in temperatures ensured an awakening like not seen for some time in Valle d’Aosta, with the highest peaks covered by a thin blanket white.
The snow level during the night – the regional weather office said – stood at around 2,800-2,900 meters, also bringing the Matterhorn back to its more usual image.
No damage was reported due to bad weather. Yesterday afternoon, rainfall was concentrated in the lower Lys valley – up to now about 100 mm have been accumulated – while in the night almost everywhere in the region there was between 10 and 20 mm. More showers are expected in the afternoon. But it is a brief pause in these months of drought and heat waves: the second part of Friday is in fact expected to return to clear weather, with temperatures on the rise from Monday. (HANDLE).
