(ANSA) – MILAN, AUGUST 18 – It is raining in Milan and a large part of Lombardy where no particular damage has been reported at the moment, while yesterday a violent storm broke out in the lower Mantua, which caused the flooding of some basements. An alert issued by the civil protection had already foreseen the arrival of thunderstorms for yesterday and also the Risk Monitoring Functional Center of the Lombardy Region had issued a weather alert on the Milan hydraulic node from late yesterday afternoon.

In particular, an orange alert was issued on Milan (moderate risk) for strong thunderstorms, yellow (ordinary risk) for hydrogeological risk, and from midnight yesterday for hydraulic risk. For this reason, as a precaution, also in consideration of the long drought of recent times, the Municipality of Milan has decided to leave the fenced parks closed and has invited citizens to be careful and preferably not to park in cars or on foot under the trees, in proximity to the scaffolding of construction sites, dehors and tents and in general to all the artifacts that can be moved by the wind. The Milanese are also asked to secure objects and vases on windowsills, balconies and open spaces.

The Municipal Operations Center (COC) of the Civil Protection is active until the alert is closed to monitor and coordinate any interventions, as well as the plan for monitoring underpasses and areas affected by possible flooding of the Seveso and Lambro rivers. (HANDLE).
