(ANSA) – SANTA TERESA DI GALLURA, 19 AUG – For over forty years it has hosted a small hippy community that has chosen to abandon modern society to live in contact with nature. What, however, until a few years ago could be considered a social experiment, has turned into a serious problem of hygiene and safety, which deprives the general public of the opportunity to serenely admire one of the most evocative places in Sardinia: Cala grande, renamed in evocative way by the occupants Valle della Luna, in the tiny peninsula of Capo Testa overlooking the Strait of Bonifacio. A wedge of granite and sand rocks overlooking the blue sea, in the Marine Protected Area which has long been a Site of Community Interest, which has now become a symbol of neglect and abandonment.

The problem is raised by the environmental association Capo Testa Republic, which since 2020 has been fighting to enhance, promote and protect Capo Testa. And that proposes to transform Cala di l’Ea, Cala di Mezu and Cala Grande into a natural park, open to all. “The so-called Valle della Luna is a natural area of inestimable value, for years a mirage of youth freedom which, especially in the summer months, is besieged by young people from all over Italy, and beyond, and is transformed in a reality of filth, illegality and small building abuses “, explains the association, born on the initiative of some inhabitants of Capo Testa but which also includes many residents of Santa Teresa Gallura and historical vacationers.
