In the Brenta canal dry old safes, perhaps from Mala

Pnrr, Gentiloni:

(ANSA) – VENICE, AUGUST 20 – Four old safes, corroded by water and rust, were discovered abandoned on the dry bottom of the Padua-Venice waterway (never completed), in the territory of Vigonovo (Venice). According to the first hypothesis, they could be the coffers that had been disposed of after the robberies by the gang of Felice Maniero, who in a nearby area, on the Brenta, also made the cars used for criminal raids disappear; cars some of which had been fished out with their bodies riddled with gunshots.

Given the state of encrustation – ‘Il Gazzettino’ reports today – the old coffers could have been thrown into the artificial river even more than 30 years ago, when the Band of the Riviera del Brenta raged in the Veneto, with sensational robberies and firefights.

The discovery of the armored cabinets was made possible by the drought, which uncovered part of the bottom of the waterway. This was reported by a fisherman from the area. Given the difficulty of the operation, the four safes have not yet been recovered. Some show signs of forcing, probably performed with a blowtorch or flexible flame. (HANDLE).
