(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 22 AUGUST – An Ita Airways civilian transport plane “escorted” by two fighters. The scene that appeared in the skies of Friuli aroused alarm and concern among the residents who feared a war action or in any case a hijacking. So dozens have been reports and telephone calls to the emergency and law enforcement centers from various locations in the Middle Friuli. It was clarified only afterwards, however, that it was “a simple training activity for possible future collaborations with Ita”, as the press office of the national acrobatic team made known.
In fact, the aircraft that traveled with the civil plane are part of the Frecce Tricolori.
“No anomalies – the Italian Air Force had confirmed to ANSA from the control tower of the Pagliano and Gori airport in Aviano – normal exercises involving aircraft from the national aerobatic team and an Ita aircraft”. (HANDLE).
