(ANSA) – TARANTO, AUGUST 24 – The Geo Barents ship of the NGO Doctors Without Borders, which arrived this morning in the port of Taranto, landed the 106 migrants rescued in recent days.
These included 26 women and 42 minors, seven of whom between the ages of one and four. The boat had left Turkey. The welcome machine with first aid and medical care was coordinated by the prefecture with the help of 118, Red Cross, Municipality and Civil Protection. The migrants were temporarily transferred to the hotspot to be subsequently sorted to other destinations. No particular critical issues were reported, although several refugees appeared to be particularly tried. Taranto was indicated by the Interior Ministry as a safe harbor. (HANDLE).
