(ANSA) – TRIESTE, AUGUST 25 – An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 was recorded last night at 2:34 two kilometers from Frisanco (Pordenone). The earthquake had its epicenter at a depth of 12 kilometers.

The tremor was felt very strongly in the area near the epicenter, awakening people and causing a great fear among them. Fortunately, no damage to people or things has been reported. Numerous phone calls arrived at the switchboard of the police and rescue in general.

Many, especially in the area of the valleys, took to the streets, fearing that the earth would shake again, but the shock – at least the 3.5 one – was the only one. What surprised and frightened us was the duration of many seconds.

The Civil Protection of the Fvg reported that the earthquake occurred two kilometers north of Frisanco (Pordenone).

Reached by telephone, the mayor of Frisanco, Sandro Rovedo, confirmed that he had not received any reports of damage or injuries.

According to some residents of the area – among whom the memory of the 1976 earthquake is always vivid – for years there has not been such a clear and above all long-lasting shock.

The Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics (Ogs) of Trieste reported that last night’s one was preceded by 11 tremors over the last thirty days.
