Migrants: six landings in Lampedusa, arrived in 147

(ANSA) – LAMPEDUSA, AUGUST 27 – 147 migrants, with 6 different small boats, arrived in Lampedusa between last night and dawn. Three autonomous landings with 14, 15 and 17 people, including Tunisians and Syrians, arrived directly on the island, between the Favarolo pier, the port and the Madonnina pier.

During the night, 11 miles from Capo Ponente, the Guardia di Finanza patrol boat V8002 intercepted a wooden boat, which left Zuara in Libya, carrying 66 Bengalis, Syrians and Palestinians on board. Among them also six women, two of them minors. The same rescue unit, one mile from the port, blocked a 4-meter boat with 11 Tunisians, one of them minors, who left Djerba. Another small boat with 16 Tunisians, including a woman, was docked half a mile away. At dawn, on the road to the Madonnina pier, 14 Tunisians were blocked by the carabinieri, including 3 minors; while 15 left from Zarzis (Tunisia) arrived directly at the Favarolo pier and another 25 self-styled Tunisians and Syrians, including 4 women, arrived on the quay.

Yesterday, 221 migrants arrived on the island with 7 different boats. At the moment, 654 migrants are guests of the hotspot in the Imbriacola district of Lampedusa. The first reception structure was almost emptied during the 4 days of rough sea and wind that prevented the crossings. Between yesterday and last night, however, it was once again overcrowded as there are 350 places available.

For the morning, at the disposal of the Prefecture of Agrigento, a transfer of about 300 migrants is planned with the Paolo Veronese ferry that will arrive in Porto Empedocle in the evening. (HANDLE).
