The early release of Mikheil Saakashvili, head of the executive committee of reforms in Ukraine, is ruled out. The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili told reporters about this, Interfax-Ukraine writes.

According to him, Saakashvili is the main criminal, and according to forecasts, he will spend at least six years in prison.

“The main criminal is in prison, and he will spend at least six years there. Now they are deliberately spreading information that allegedly Saakashvili will be released early and that the Georgian authorities intend to transfer him to Ukraine. All this” information “is complete absurdity,” Garibashvili said.

Let’s remind that today Georgian journalists managed to take the first photo of Mikheil Saakashvili from the Rustavi prison. Soon a video was published in which Saakashvili greeted his comrades-in-arms from the camera window. The ex-president held on to the bars on the window and tried to show his heart with his hands.

The day before, Saakashvili attended a consultation of doctors and recommended his hospitalization. The Georgian authorities stated that they are ready to fulfill this requirement if the detainee agrees. Saakashvili and his defenders were categorically against his transfer to the clinic of the 18th penitentiary institution because the policy there will not be provided with security.

Saakashvili in Georgian confinement

  • The ex-president of Georgia arrived in the country 8 years after he left it. He intended to support his party in the elections, but Saakashvili was nevertheless detained in Georgia.
  • Earlier, he was sentenced two times – in the case of the murder of Sandro Girgvliani and the beating of deputy Valery Gelashvili. In total, he has to spend six years in prison since his arrest on October 1. In addition, Saakashvili is involved in the cases of dispersal of the opposition rally on November 7, 2007, the pogrom of the Imedi TV company and the embezzlement of funds from the state budget – they are still being considered by the courts.
  • President Volodymyr Zelenskyy promised that Ukraine would do everything possible to free Saakashvili, while the Georgian Prime Minister said that the politician would return to Ukraine only after serving time in prison.
  • The politician went on a hunger strike and because of this his health deteriorated sharply. He stated that he had lost 15 kg behind bars. Saakashvili started having problems with motor skills and diction.
  • The attending physician Mikheil Saakashvili, who visited the ex-president of Georgia in prison, was horrified by the state of his patient’s health. He said that Saakashvili does not eat anything and drinks only water. At the same time, Kipshidze said that fasting is contraindicated for Saakashvili, since he has a rare hereditary disease called thalassemia.
