Two suspects in an attempt to set fire to the house of the Deputy Head of the President’s Office Igor Zhovkva arrested for two months with an alternative to bail in the amount of more than 680 thousand hryvnia for each.
This was reported by the press service of the Kiev city prosecutor’s office.
The measure of restraint was chosen on Saturday, October 23, by the Darnitskiy District Court of Kiev, having satisfied the petition of the prosecutor of the Darnitskiy District Prosecutor’s Office of Kiev.
It is reported that the suspects are men in their 20s and 25s, who have not been previously convicted. Their actions are qualified under Part 2 of Art. 194, part 2 of Art. 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
“Now the pre-trial investigation continues. The circumstances of the criminal offense and other persons involved in it are being established.”, – reported in the prosecutor’s office.
What is known
- According to the investigation, one of the suspects, a resident of the capital, received an order through the Telegram messenger to set fire to Zhovkva’s house. For the execution of the order, he said, they promised to pay $ 7,000.
- To commit the crime, he attracted his acquaintance, a resident of the Cherkasy region, to whom he promised to give part of this amount as a reward.
- Having purchased the means necessary for arson, namely, flammable mixtures (gasoline and kerosene), containers and adhesive tapes, the attackers prepared three bottles of Molotov cocktail and on the night of October 22 arrived at the crime scene in the Darnytskyi district of the capital. First, they painted offensive inscriptions on the fence of the house, after which, while one of the men was watching the situation, the other set fire to a bottle with “Molotov cocktail” and threw it over the fence into the territory of the house.
- But while one of them was trying to set fire to the second bottle, strangers noticed him, and he rushed to run, but was detained in hot pursuit. Later, the second was caught.
