(ANSA) – ROME, OCTOBER 29 – After 16 years from the start of the investigation, the acquittal also arrives on appeal for Pier Domenico Garrone, former president of Enoteca di Italia, who was accused of fraudulent bankruptcy in relation to the management of the organization . This was decided by the judges of the Court of Appeal of Rome who declared inadmissible the appeal presented by the then Capitoline prosecutor Stefano Rocco Fava, confirming the acquittal with the formula “because the fact does not exist” already pronounced by the first instance sentence in 2017.

The investigation was launched in 2005 and related to the nature of some invoices. The investigations then concerned the crash of Buonitalia, a company that had absorbed Enoteca Italia, which took place in 2013, eight years after the resignation of Garrone, defended in court by the lawyer Fabio Pier Giorgio Criscuolo.

“With the decision arrived today, after so many years, it is sanctioned that the management of the institution on my part was correct and there was no type of offense. I can only declare myself satisfied with this sentence”, comments Garrone. Today the Rome Court of Appeal confirmed the acquittal for all the defendants in the “Enoteca d’Italia” trial, declaring Fava’s appeal inadmissible in the meantime replaced.

“I would do it all again because everything has always been done with third parties of interest – adds the manager, founder of Il Comunicatore Italiano and with roles also held in the Airports of Rome and the Piedmont Region -, absence of conflicts of interest, for the public and general interest of the wine sector of Acqui Terme, of the Piedmont Region, of the Berlusconi government that had appointed me. The Wine List of the Enoteca d’Italia and thus of Piedmont still remains today a model of promotion of successes “. (HANDLE).
