Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Ukraine should stop using the expression “Turkish Bayraktar” for purchased attack drones used in Donbas.
He stated this after a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of the G20 summit, according to Evropeyskaya Pravda.
Cavusoglu noted that the drone may have been manufactured in Turkey, but it belongs to Ukraine.
“Turkey cannot be blamed for this. Ukraine must stop using our name.”, – he said.
The minister added that if a country buys them from us, from another country, these weapons cannot be called Turkish, Russian or Ukrainian.
“If the state buys it from us, it is no longer a Turkish product. Perhaps it was produced in Turkey, but it belongs to Ukraine. Turkey cannot be blamed for anything.”, – he said.
Cavusoglu said that during the fight against terrorism, Turkey faced different types of weapons from different countries.
“Sometimes, during our fight against terrorism in different countries, we come across different weapons from different countries, including Russia. We never blame Russia. Ukraine should also stop using our name.”– said the minister.
Note that Turkey has sold Bayraktar TB2 drones, in addition to Ukraine, to Qatar, Azerbaijan and Poland.
