Gadgets

Smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc. have become an extension of ourselves. The screen is often the last thing we see before going to sleep, and the first thing we look at after waking up. And this is a huge misconception. Psychologists convince: the bed should be associated with us exclusively with two things – sleep and sex. Then, investing in it, we will automatically adjust the body to rest. If you read the news in bed, watch movies, play video games, this connection will be broken. Ideally, there should be no gadgets in the bedroom at all.

Light indicators

In addition to attracting a lot of attention, gadgets are also equipped with a large number of indicator lights. Flashing notifications, a light indicating the charge, an indicator for connecting to the network – they all seem to shine so weakly that they cannot interfere with sleep. Not really. Even a weak light source can affect the production of melatonin, the hormone responsible for falling asleep. If you can’t carry away all the devices that flash their lights at you, at least cover up the lights.

Thin curtains

The same problem is created by insufficiently thick curtains. In the evening they let in the light of lanterns from the street, in the morning they do not block the sun’s rays. An ideal choice for those who do not sleep well, these are blackout curtains that completely cover the light. People switching to them often note that they began to sleep a few hours longer.

The ticking of a clock, the buzzing of a computer or refrigerator, the dripping of water, the hiss of an air conditioner do not help you fall asleep. These extraneous noises are especially bad for people with a high level of anxiety. Trying to distract yourself usually only makes things worse. Therefore, there can be nothing noisy in the bedroom.

Silk or synthetic bedding

Synthetic fibers do not allow the body to breathe. In summer these sheets are hot, in winter they are not warm. If the fabric still has a beautiful shiny satin surface, then the bed also becomes slippery. You will also have to slide on natural silk. Therefore, the ideal choice for bedding is cotton or linen.

Uncomfortable sleepwear

Tight elastic bands, thick seams, clothes that are too wide and roll up when you roll around in bed, and even fabrics that are simply unpleasant to the touch can all create additional discomfort during rest and disrupt sleep. Therefore, pajamas or a nightgown should be chosen such that they are not felt on the body almost at all, they are like a second skin. For some, the option of sleeping completely naked may be suitable. The main rule at the same time – in bed should be as comfortable as possible.

Of course, we often want to look at dear people, even if it’s just a photo. But you need to place portraits so that they are not visible at all from the bed. The thing is that we are evolutionarily tuned to focus when we see the image of faces, especially eyes. This is how our brains try to avoid the potential danger that a stranger might pose when they are staring at us, even if that stranger is a picture of mom in a cute frame. So say no to portraits in the sleeping area.

bright objects

Similarly, bright objects in the bedroom have a stimulating effect on the human brain. In nature, acid shades very often mean danger. For example, they signal that an animal or plant is poisonous. Therefore, we try not to let these colors out of our sight. So it is better to decorate the bedroom in neutral and pastel colors, then it will not interfere with sleep.
