Between 2019 and 2021 almost 48 million euros ended up in the pockets of people who received citizenship income illegally, over 41 million this year. This is what emerges from the data of the Carabinieri. The growth is to be related to the strengthening of controls multiplied 14 times between 2019 and 2021. Two years ago, in 2019, 10,778 offenses were discovered for 969,450.68 euros; in 2020 the “irregular” detected were instead 18,131, for 5,614,247.80 euros. Finally, in 2021, the recipients of controlled income were 156,822 for a good 41,359,042.02 received illegally.
Over 40 million euros were unduly received, as citizenship income, during 2021 in Italy. The weapon checked 156,822 people who received the benefit across the country. Of these, 9,247 were referred to the judicial authorities for irregularities.
Among them 4,124 were people already known to the police for other reasons. In previous years, the checks concerned 10,778 subjects in 2019 and 18,131 in 2020, finding respectively 459 and 1,408 irregularities. (HANDLE).
