(ANSA) – VERBANIA, 09 NOV – Experts and consultants from today at work on the remains of cabin 3 of the Mottarone cable car, transferred yesterday from the slopes of the mountain to a shed of the Tecnoparco del Lago Maggiore, in Verbania Fondotoce. The attention of the experts who will have to establish why the driving cable of the plant broke last May 23 is aimed in particular at the cast head, the metal cylinder into which the broken cable is inserted.
If so far it has been ascertained the use of so-called ‘forks’ to block the emergency braking system, the causes of the breakage of the thick metal cable still need to be established. The fused head, at the moment, however, has not yet been detached from the piece of trunk in which it stuck.
Some parts of the scrap will be sent to the Latif laboratory in Trento for a more accurate analysis; others in the Center for Metal Analysis of the University of Bologna. (HANDLE).
