Students in skirts, ‘no to toxic masculinity’

(ANSA) – MONZA, 11 NOV – A day in a skirt for all students, male and female, to fight “toxic masculinity”. This is what was organized by the students of the Zucchi classical high school in Monza to combat gender inequality by making sure that clothing is no longer synonymous with any prejudice.

“In my closet there are many skirts and dresses that I would like to wear, every time I am about to do so, something holds me back”, reads the comment of one of the posts published on the Instagram page “Zucchingonna”, signed by a student .

“I live knowing that the social system does not defend me, if I wear a skirt or a short dress I am in any case less defensible than someone who wears trousers”. Then she continues, “wearing a skirt doesn’t mean I’m calling attention to myself, it doesn’t justify the looks and comments that make me feel like an object.”

“I’m tired of having to hear complete strangers question my gender identity or my sexual orientation,” explains another student, “I’m tired of my clothes that qualify me as a man and that society dictates what I am. it means to be a man “.

Stresses another slogan: “if you identify as a man, then you are man enough”.

For this reason, explain girls and boys, all together have decided to fight this battle within the school environment, setting up days where boys and girls wear skirts. (HANDLE).
