(ANSA) – TURIN, NOV 13 – Three of the vans used by the gang were stolen in Lombardy, which attacked the Sillavengo (Novara) warehouses of Loro Piana, a leading company in the clothing sector, on the night between Thursday and Friday .
The thieves had blocked the town center with two of the vehicles. Then they had broken through a wall and loaded the cashmire garments onto two other vehicles, with which they had fled.
One of the vehicles was intercepted by the carabinieri and the traffic police along the Valsesia provincial road. The fugitives threw three-pronged nails on the asphalt that tore apart the tires of the pursuers’ patrols.
A fire extinguisher was thrown against a carabinieri car (the impact was avoided thanks to the driver’s skill) and gunshots were fired. The van then went off the road and the occupants continued their escape on foot, making them lose their tracks.
The fourth van has disappeared with some of the stolen goods.
