The Public Prosecutor of Santa Maria Capua Vetere (Caserta) for the story of the violence in prison against the prisoners has asked for the indictment of 108 agents and officials of the prison administration. For 12 suspects he asked to be archived but it is likely that the 12 will still be notified of a criminal decree condemning a fine for not having, as public officials, reported what was happening in prison. The preliminary hearing will be held on Wednesday 15 December (9.30). At the center of the story is the violence committed by prison police officers in the San Marino prison on 6 April 2020.
Among those who risk the trial are Pasquale Colucci, commander of the Translation and Guarding Operations Unit of the Secondigliano penitentiary center and commander of the ‘Intervention Support’ group, still under house arrest, the former head of the Campania prisons Antonio Fullone, banned from the service, Tiziana Perillo, commander of the Translations and Guarding Operations Unit of Avellino, Nunzia Di Donato, commander of the ‘Translations and Guarding Operations’ unit of Santa Maria Capua Vetere; Anna Rita Costanzo, chief commissioner in charge of the Nile department (under house arrest), the former commander of the penitentiary police of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison Gaetano Manganelli (under house arrest).
The crimes charged in various ways are those of torture, injury, abuse of authority, forgery of a public document and cooperation in the manslaughter of an Algerian prisoner. For the death of the non-EU detainee, among the victims of violence, the accusation concerns 12 suspects. The hearing was set by the investigating judge Pasquale D’Angelo in the bunker hall of the same prison.
