(ANSA) – CESENA, NOV 17 – Chaos in the morning on the Bologna-Rimini railway line with trains, even long-distance ones, forced to suffer delays of up to 160 minutes. In the early hours of the day, a driver of a southbound freight train sounded the alarm, believing, after hearing a thud while passing near Savignano sul Rubicone, in Cesenate, that he had run over someone, unable to specify whether a man or an animal. Immediately the convoy was brought to a halt and all traffic on the line was suspended. The checks carried out by Polfer and Carabinieri, who searched a long stretch of railway, did not give any results.

At around nine, therefore, rail traffic resumed, gradually returning to normal. The stop of more than three hours, however, caused long delays of numerous trains, while for several other trains it was decided to route them, where possible, on alternative routes. In detail, delays of up to 2 hours and 40 minutes were recorded for six trains, one Frecciarossa and four Silver Frecce directed to Milan and a Regionale Veloce directed to Piacenza; for five trains, between Regionals and Regionali Veloci, the cancellation of the race was necessary, while for another six, always between Regionals and Regionali Veloci, only a part of the section was canceled.
