(ANSA) – CALTANISSETTA, NOV 22 – An 82-year-old who fell after the collapse of his balcony in via Abbate I, in the historic center of Caltanissetta, died in the emergency room of the Sant’Elia hospital. The conditions of the 82-year-old, who arrived at the hospital conscious but with various traumas, did not initially seem particularly serious. But then, after a few hours, he went into cardiac arrest. The doctors and nurses present in the room tried to revive him but there was nothing to be done. The incident occurred around noon.
The old man, who lived in a dilapidated building and lived in poor sanitary conditions, had looked out onto the balcony, the floor of which was made up of wooden planks, ending up below. Apparently it was he who had put the wooden planks himself, to replace the floor of the previously collapsed balcony. The boards, however, perhaps also due to the rain these days, did not hold up. To reconstruct what happened the policemen of the Flying section of the Police Headquarters intervened on the spot. (HANDLE).
