US President Joe Biden’s administration ponders sending military advisers and additional weapons to Ukraine amid threats of a new Russian invasion.

This is reported by CNN, citing sources familiar with the discussions.

The new package of assistance to Ukraine may include Javelin anti-tank complexes, Stinger air defense systems and mortars. The United States is also considering the possibility of sending military advisers and weapons that Washington purchased for Afghanistan, in particular Mi-17 helicopters.

At the same time, some people in the White House fear that the provision of new weapons, such as the Stinger, to Ukraine may be viewed by Russia as an escalation.

In addition, the sources said US officials are in talks with European allies to develop a new package of sanctions that will take effect if Russia invades.

RF invasion threat

  • Recently, there have been more and more statements that Russia is building up troops and equipment near the border with Ukraine. Thus, the representative of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG, Oleksiy Arestovich, previously stated: for Ukraine, it is obvious that Russia is building up its military forces near our border and the situation already resembles the events of early 2014, which ended with the invasion of Donbass and the occupation of Crimea.
  • Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba believes that Russia can indeed carry out a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, but whether it uses this option depends on two factors.
  • And General Mykola Malomuzh predicted Russia’s failure in Ukraine.
