(ANSA) – GENOA, NOVEMBER 24 – The Remembrance Committee of the victims of the Morandi Bridge was excluded from the civil parties during the preliminary hearing as part of the investigation into the collapse.
It was decided by the gup Paola Faggioni. According to the judge, the victims’ committee, which brings together most of the family members, cannot be admitted as a civil party due to “lack of legitimacy given that it was formed after the facts”. The GUP is ruling out most of the associations that have asked for a civil action.
“Obviously we are very sorry for this decision, we hoped for acceptance also in the light of the previous sentences. This does not slow down our collegial action by one iota. Obviously we will act in the common interest also as single relatives”. Thus Egle Possetti, president of the Ponte Morandi Victims Remembrance Committee, comments on the decision of the gup (ANSA).
