(ANSA) – PALERMO, NOV 24 – Piermaria Capuana, 18, is the youngest commissioner in Italy. He was appointed yesterday by the mayor Nino Bellia to the Municipality of San Giovanni La Punta, in the province of Catania, in the Onda civic list. Capuana, a university student of Political Sciences in Catania, is the outgoing president of the provincial student council. The new councilor, after taking the oath, was celebrated by a hundred young people who gathered in the square in front of the town hall of Puntese.
“Being the youngest commissioner in Italy – he said – is for me the recognition of the commitment made during my adolescence and today a great proof of maturity and responsibility towards citizenship. Spirit of enterprise, activism , passion and honesty are the values that best represent our idea of politics. Focusing on young people is not a bet but an investment, I believe in the need to involve young people more and more in public affairs, also breaking down the preconception that if you are young you will you have to please, you have little experience and therefore you have to wait “.
