“Troops can be sent anywhere”: statement by the British ambassador about rumors about the landing in Ukraine

London is not currently considering options for sending its military units to Ukraine, as the British edition of the Mirror recently reported. However, it is closely monitoring the movement of Russian troops near the Ukrainian border.

British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons told Segodnya about this.

Statement

“It seems to me that this is only a guess from the war correspondent. Indeed, Great Britain, like many other states, has troops that can be sent anywhere in the world. However, there are currently no plans to send them to Ukraine. We are currently observing activity abroad and are concerned about the buildup of troops (near the border of Ukraine – Ed). I think we understand, and the Ukrainians are well aware that this is just one aspect of Russian aggression. Now the question is, what can the UK and other countries do to support Ukraine? It is worth considering not only military, but also hybrid threats.“, – said the British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons.

Situation

• The British edition of the Mirror reported that Britain has formed a combined rapid reaction unit of about 600 troops, which can be deployed to Ukraine in the event of a threat of Russian invasion of this country.
• On November 24, the US authorities issued a warning for its citizens not to visit the regions of Ukraine on our state borders, as well as to avoid visiting the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the occupied Crimea.
• In the event of a new Russian aggression against Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada is ready to meet urgently to introduce martial law or a state of emergency.
• Angela Merkel, who was leaving the post of German Chancellor a week later, warned Russia against aggression against Ukraine.
