President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the introduction of a bill on dual citizenship to the Verkhovna Rada, which is aimed primarily at Ukrainians abroad. He said this during his annual address to the Verkhovna Rada.

“An important component of our international policy is the support of world Ukrainians. I know how important it is for Ukrainians who live in the USA, Canada, the EU, the issue of multiple citizenship. Today I am submitting a corresponding bill to parliament. We are 65 million. Double citizenship
- As a reminder, MPs from various political forces previously submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft of amendments to the law “On Citizenship of Ukraine” regarding the automatic loss of Ukrainian citizenship in the event of voluntarily acquiring citizenship of the aggressor state – the Russian Federation.
