Chairman of the Servant of the People faction David Arakhamia is ready to provide evidence that he does not have dual citizenship. He told UNIAN about this, commenting on the statement of the People’s Deputy Alexander Kachura, who initiates an audit of the politician.
“He was right when he said that it is necessary to check the information disseminated in the media. When the competent authorities check the information, and I hope that they can check … And if they cannot, then I will go out and show everyone at the briefing the reinforced concrete proof that testifies that I do not have any American citizenship, “said Arahamia.
At the same time, Arachamiya did not specify what kind of evidence is in question.
Arahamia also noted that when the first information appeared that he allegedly has US citizenship, he became concerned about this issue and decided to find out how realistic it is to get such data.
“The United States of America, unfortunately, does not have a mechanism for requesting … They say: they cannot provide information to a single direct request of a citizen or institution, there simply is no such mechanism. I then turned to the embassy, I also received this appeal refusal, “- said Arahamia.
Also, the politician is ready to provide everyone with concrete proof that he does not have dual citizenship.
“If you ask me if I have citizenship of any country except Ukraine, I will say no. I have a concrete answer. And there is proof. And I will leave the proof a little later,” he said.
He explained that “there is a document that cannot be obtained for a citizen of the United States.” When asked if it was a visa, the deputy clarified that it was a “special type of visa”.
Arakhamia’s passport scandal
In 2019, the anonymous Telegram channel “The Dark Knight” published a photocopy of the “passport of a US citizen” of the head of the “Servant of the People” faction, David Arakhamia. However, after a few minutes, the author deleted the post, explaining that the photo was fake. The photo screen remained in the network.
Soon, former MP Igor Mosiychuk announced that he had proof that Arahamia had an American passport.
Arakhamia said that he considers the statements of Mosiychuk about his alleged American citizenship to be unsubstantiated, since the latter did not release the evidence.

The government has been working on the introduction of dual citizenship for several years. Back in the summer of 2019, it was reported that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop a mechanism, which will allow foreigners to have a Ukrainian passport.
