The introduction of a new package of EU sanctions against Belarus indicates a desire to worsen the country’s economic situation, in response to this, tough measures will be prepared. This is stated in the statement of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

“The European officials hypocritically struck a sanctions blow, despite the fact that the Belarusian side is doing everything possible to resolve the migration crisis. The goal of this policy is to economically strangle Belarus and make the life of the country’s residents as difficult and as difficult as possible,” the Foreign Ministry noted.

Tens of thousands of the country’s citizens and their families, European consumers, suppliers, businessmen and companies who are not involved in the migration crisis will suffer from the new sanctions.

“The package includes Belarusian enterprises that have nothing to do with the migration crisis. This is done in order to get rid of competitors,” the statement says.

Belarus was ready

The self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, in response to the introduction of a new package of sanctions, said that it was not the first time that they faced sanctions pressure. Moreover, the country has been preparing for this for at least six months.

“Our economy is under pressure from outside of unprecedented scale and depth. Not only aggressive rhetoric, but also actions persist … so that people do not feel these sanctions. At least, that these sanctions and measures from the outside do not determine the lives of people, “he said.
