(ANSA) – ROME, DECEMBER 05 – “It has been almost two years since Patrick was kidnapped and imprisoned. He is in prison only because he is a political and human rights activist. His physical and mental conditions are getting worse every day . Today we know that he was moved from the Cairo prison to the Al Mansura prison, in preparation for Tuesday’s trial. We also learned that he was attacked and brutally beaten by the police. ” This is the statement-appeal of the young Egyptian Mohamed Hazem Abbas – a close friend of Patrick Zaki and a member of the Freedom Campaign for Patrick – launched on 5 December at the fair of small and medium publishing ‘More books freer’.
“We are confident that international pressure, if done right, is the key to his release from prison.
Many of the rights we have here in Europe are taken for granted. We ask everyone to be the voice of Patrick and the 60,000 political prisoners in Egypt. Let’s not forget the heroism of these fighters “.
And, continued Mohamed Hazem Abbas, “as members of the Freedom Campaign for Patrick we renew our demands for Patrick’s immediate release and the dropping of all charges against him” and “we invite everyone to join in tomorrow’s protest,” December 6, at the Giardini Margherita in Bologna. We have never forgotten you and we will never forget you “. (HANDLE).
